Description
Diamniadio Lake City was conceived to ease the population pressure on Dakar. Senegal intends to take advantage of its geographical location to open up the gateway to West African's 300-million-person consumer market. The project is estimated to cost $2 billion and will extend over an area of 1644 hectares. The Diamniadio Lake City will contain residential areas and business districts to accommodate hotels, fashion centers, Abdou Diouf International conference area, Dakar Arena for sports, research centers, exposition center, government ministries, universities, and other entertainment areas. On completion, the new city will be connected to Dakar through a 32 km express highway, which will reduce the travel time from 90 minutes to an average of 30 minutes. It is estimated that two thirds of the DLC will be private investment. Diaminiadio Lake City hosts a new stock exchange.
